Garage door prices may vary according to the type of garage door ordered.
There are three basic types of garage doors that we deal with: wooden garage doors, steel garage doors, and fiberglass garage doors.
Wooden garage doors are one of the most preferable options because they allow the garage door owner to achieve a natural look that is pleasing to the eye. The wood provides the house with a look that may contribute to its aesthetic beauty in a way that more modern and composite materials may not achieve. A garage door made out of natural material is also more environmentally friendly, which is something that an environmentally-conscious consumer may want to consider. It is for this reason that wooden garage doors can be the most expensive of the three types of garage doors.
Steel garage doors are another popular option. The steel garage door can come insulated or non-insulated, depending on the customer’s preference. One benefit of the garage door insulation is that the insulation helps to keep the garage door’s temperature more stable. The insulation can also help in dent prevention because when the weather heats up, the garage door’s metal may become more malleable, and as a result, can dent easier if the car accidentally collides with the garage door.
Fiberglass garage doors are another popular selection. The price of fiberglass garage doors may run lower than other types. The fiberglass is relatively low maintenance, and is a cheap option for garage door owners. But the fiberglass garage door will not necessarily achieve the aesthetic beauty that a wooden garage door can achieve.
In addition to these three basic types of garage doors, there are also various custom-made garage door types, including glass garage doors and other types. High-end, custom-made garage doors can cost as much as $10,000 or more, and may take as long as two months if the customer desires to have the door made from scratch.
